Miro - Internet TV and video player

It's been 6 months since the last post. That's a long time and a lot of things have changed in freeware since then.

First up is Miro, a free open source Internet TV and video player. It can also automatically download videos from RSS-based channels and features a built-in BitTorrent client.

What I like about Miro is the ability to create a playlist of FLV files. This is a feature I found missing from the Applian FLV player. But of course Miro does so much more than Applian's player.

  • It plays many video files (mov, wmv, avi, xvid and more)
  • Explore and subscribe to over 2500 free channels
  • Search download and save videos from across YouTube, Veoh, Google, Revver, DailyMotion, Yahoo and BlipTV

EretzYisroel.org

EretzYisroel.org has information about Israel that all Christians need to know. Twice today I have been told to pray for peace in Jerusalem, and I suggest that if you are a born-again Christian you do the same as well.

There are some fascinating articles on Israeli history, religious and political analysis of the Middle East, photos of the holy land and the origins of the Arab-Jewish conflict over Palestine.

Click here for an article on prayer for the peace of Jerusalem.

Audio and video from the Internet Ministry Conference 2007

Last September, hundreds of people gathered in Grand Rapids, Michigan to attend the Internet Evangelism Conference 2007—all there to learn about how to do effective online ministry. Conference workshops covered topics like evangelism in Second Life, managing volunteers in an online ministry, writing effectively for the web, and lots more.

If you weren’t able to attend the conference, you’re in luck—videos from several of the workshops are now online for you to watch. They include workshops by David Bruce of Hollywood Jesus, Robby Richardson of Gospel Communications, and five others.
In addition to those videos, audio from several other conference workshops is available over at the Internet Ministry Conference blog. There’s lots of material to watch and listen to, so see what looks interesting and check it out! And if you like what you see/hear, the next Internet Ministry Conference is slated for October 2008.
